Ok so Valentine’s Day has always been a huge holiday in my family, not because we are a super loving family (we are though) but
because my mom is a florist. This is a florist’s superbowl and through all of these years going through the love crazed holiday with her and her staff I have picked up a few things that may benefit anyone looking to send flowers to their significant other this year.
1. Delivery – This is probably the MOST important thing about sending flowers. Make sure to send them to his/her workplace. The 14th falls on a Tuesday this year which means that making a huge romantic statement at the beginning of the week is much harder than closer to the weekend. Having flowers delivered to her work shows her how much you care in a public way, it will mean as much to her as if you swallow your pride and kiss or hug her in public. This is non negotiable, cough up the extra fee to make sure she gets her arrangement in front of everyone.
2. Think outside of the box.- Just because its Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean that you have to send red roses. Do some research and send something that reminds you of her rather than choosing the easy way out with roses. With that being said if roses are her thing or your not confident in your bud decision capabilities go with a different color of roses or a combination. Peach, off white and blush are really popular right now and make a beautiful bouquet without being so traditional.
3. Do your research – Each flower, color and even quantity of flowers means something, so if you are trying to send a specific message make sure you know the meaning of the bouquet your sending means.

4. Be Creative & Romantic – Sending flowers is not about how big or expensive the arrangement is, its all about the meaning behind it. Make sure an include a card with why you chose the flowers you did, how they remind you of her or an even in your lives. If you are married try ordering the same flowers in her wedding bouquet and make note of it on the card. She is sure to appreciate your thought and remembrance of your wedding day. If you don’t remember or know what flowers were used just take your wedding photos to your florist and she will be able to replicate it for you.
5. Choose a great Florist – Florists are artists just like painters and sculptors so make sure and choose the very best. Pick a professional because you will not want to come home with grocery store flowers, you want her to have a work of art.
When in doubt keep it simple and sweet. As long as you are sincere she will enjoy any bouquet you choose to send.
