Fashion Challenge – $100 Outfit

Oct 18

The Southern Fashion Bloggers have issued a challenge; create an entire look for under $100; and if you know me you know I am always up for a challenge.  Don’t get me wrong, I love nice things but this challenge is right up my alley.  Two kids, a house, a husband, I shop on a budget way more than I would like to but there is something so gratifying about knowing the top you are wearing costs less than lunch!

I ventured into my own closet for my look and its featuring one of my favorite trends for fall, cobalt blue.

I paired a flowing cobalt blue button front top from Old Navy, (originally $29.94 marked down to 75% off this past weekend to $7.49) with a pair of Old Navy Skinny Rockstar Jeggings in Gray (originally $34.94 marked down to 40% off this past weekend to $20.97) Something about these jeggings just works for me, They are fitted and flattering without being too tight on my curves, they are perfect in length hit most shoes nicely and are the most comfortable pair of jeans I own, I have 4 pair all different colors! I forgot to mention that I put a $3.00 racerback tank under my cobalt top so that I wouldn’t be flashing the world :)

To pull the look together I added a skinny cognac belt to bring in an unexpected item of color.  I like pairing cognac with this color combo b/c not only does it contrast with the blue but it also is an unexpected leather tone with gray.  I had a cognac leather belt that came with a little dress I already own so for me that was free! My fave part has to be the shoe, I picked them up at a little shoe boutique in my area for about $40 but just found them online for $15 :( They are a cage cone heel in a cognac leather, super comfortable and versatile, I can’t wait to wear them with a dress, leggings etc :)

For jewelery I topped it off with a long gold necklace and bangles from Forever 21,  a blue smokey eye and gray nails and toes using Sephora by OPI’s “Frankly I don’t give a damn”.

Final Day of February Shoe Challenge – Day 28 – Wood/Patent Wedges

Mar 01

So today was the final day of the shoe challenge and I have to admit I am glad.  While this month forced me to wear shoes that I hadn’t worn in a while I am ready to not have to think as hard in the morning to make my outfit work around my shoes.

On a positive note wearing different shoes each day really forced me to think outside of the box and I can honestly say that was more creative with my fashion than I have ever been.

Today I paired skinny jeans a lave tank and a blousy tunic from Banana Republic.  I accessorized the look with a long necklace and Michael Kors watch and wood and patent tan wedges from Nine West.

What do you think of this look? Did you like the shoe challenge? Do you think you could have done it?

February Shoe Challenge – Day 27 – Tan Flats

Feb 28

Today we had a birthday party at a fun jump warehouse. Super fun but a day filled with running around after kids and even sliding down a crazy high slide, that said I needed a casual look that still looked put together.

I paired my skinny jeggings with a cropped blue tee. The cropped tee has to be one of my favorite new trends, its an unexpected twist on a t shirt and looks extremely feminine. Mine was a light blue with a sheer floral panel along each side. I layered it on top of a white tank, obviously not showing my belly. :)

I accessorized with a Michael Kors watch and a pair of tan flats from Forever 21.

What do you think of this look? What do you think of cropped tee shirts? Is that something that you would wear?

February Shoe Challenge – Day 25 – Charlotte Russe T Strap Wedge

Feb 25

The weather is beautiful lately which just makes me want to wear clothes that make me feel just as sunny as it is outside. Today I paired a super cute tiered floral dress with a sheer top over a pair of chocolate capri leggings.  I accentuated my waist with a Banana Republic brown belt so that I wouldn’t look like I was wearing a mumu.  I finished the look with a pair of tan T strap wedges from Charlotte Russe that I bought last week on lunch break shopping.

My accessories for today was my Michael Kors watch, a pair of plastic turquoise floral studs and a purple and gold back from Shoedazzle.  I am loving this outfit.  It made me feel girly yet tough at the same time.  I love pairing lots of fun colors in small doses like the print of the dress with the studs and bag.

What do you think? Too much color? Is this something that you would wear?
