A Few of My Favorite Things….Christmas!

Jan 02

So in light of the new year I am going to try and get back to blogging, its been so crazy lately but I can honestly say I have truly missed it!

With that being said I wanted to share with you guys some of my favorite things that I received for Christmas.  Giving a gift that is truly meant for someone is a real art.  It means that the person who gave it to you really listens, knows you and loves you and I wanted to share some of my favorites and the people who got them for me.

CHRISTMAS FAVES

Marc Jacobs Classic Bangle from Aunt Tonya – There are few people in the world that know me better than her.  The perfect shopping partner, she knows my love for all things neutral and gold and add a little Marc into the mix and you’ve got a winner.  Bangles are a staple in my daily jewelry look mixed with other bracelets and a watch and this little dainty bangle is a great addition to my stack.

Barre Classes from Casey CoWorker – My sweet coworker asked around and got me an amazing set of classes from my favorite barre studio, Xtend Barre! Such a great gift to keep my fit and fabulous in the new year!

Pink “The Truth about Love” CD from my sister Jade – I love a good girlie CD and Pink combines bad ass with sweet and girlie and man can that bitch sing! Its a great CD for the car at the office and for morning dance parties with the kiddies :)

Marc Jacobs Signature Scent from Mom – I adore Marc Jacobs fragrances, there is something about the sweetness that is perfectly balanced and makes me feel sexy and ladylike all at the same time.

Long sleeved striped sleep shirt from Mom – I love a gown and this long sleeve T shirt material sleep shirt is super comfy but still cute and put together which I love.

The Giving Keys from the Bestie Adam – So my best friend Adam has a friend who works for a super cool company called the Giving Keys that employs people who are transitioning out of homelessness to stamp inspirational words on random keys to create beautiful wearable works of art. READ THEIR STORY HERE. He went out of his way to have a custom message stamped on my key “Super” because he said I am Super Woman.  Such an amazingly thoughtful gift that shows me that he is one of my best gifts of all.

What were your favorite gifts from Christmas? Did you give a gift that you were excited about?

Colorblock Dress for Spring

Mar 27

Nothing puts me in the mood for spring more than bright colors and bare legs! Especially now that my legs are a little less flabby :) I picked up this little color blocked dress from Forever 21 and it was a steal! At only $22.80, it is made of a chiffon esque fabric with a hot pink tank style top, orange accordion pleat skirt and a super cute little white leather belt.  Its super comfy and flattering at the same time which makes it amazing for work, weddings events and more.

I accessorized with a vintage chunky chain link necklace and bracelet Essie, Tart Deco nails, bangles, and Michael Kors rose gold watch.  I finished off the look with a pair of tan patent pumps (with hot pink sole) and a sprtiz of Marc Jacobs Daisy….I don’t know what gets more spring than that!

My Christmas Wish List

Dec 06

Christmas is by far one of my favorite times of the year and while I do love to shop for myself I love giving gifts as well. This year during my shopping efforts I have done great about not buying items for myself so instead of buying them I decided to blog them, much cheaper and not so greedy :) Here are a few things I would love to see under my tree this year!

Christmas Wish List

New Camera – I toyed around with the idea of getting a fancier SLR camera to take great photos of my kids but I can’t sacrifice the convenience of a slim, point and shoot camera.  If I can’t carry the camera in my purse photos will never be taken, just being honest so this little Nikon purple camera seems like the way to go, its adorable, my favorite color and it comes with its own rechargable battery which is vital!

Britney or GaGa Tour DVD – I have seen both these ladies on tour recently and both shows were amazing…why not relive that at home on DVD?

Sewing Supplies – I just recently started sewing so I need all sorts of little odds and ends to make my job a little easier, a great pair of scissors, extra needles for my machine, fabric, thread etc.

Nail Polish and Nail Polish Accessories – I am in love with the stick on nail decals and fun nail polish colors.  I own way to many colors but I cannot get enough. I love OPI, Essie and I am grooving on the new Kardashian Kollection at Wal Mart.  Currently I am lusitng over Khole had a Lam-Lam and Sealed with a Kris and Rainbow in the S-Kylie, as well as Essie’s “Cocktail Bling” “Sole Mate” “Mink Muffs” “Glamour Purse” don’t forget Sally Hansen’s leopard and frock star nail polish strips

Marc Jacobs Daisy – This is my self proclaimed signature scent.  It is so versatile and I think that it easily transitions through the seasons.  I am currently out of the large bottle so obviously I need a refill but I would also love a roller ball version to travel with or keep at work or in my purse

Delicate Rose Gold Ring – I have been in love with rose gold since purchasing my Michael Kors Rose Gold rose gold watch last year.  It compliments my skin and hair color and I get so many comments on it so I want a rose gold ring and I am loving the look of this little bow ring or delicate hammered band.

Arrow Necklace – I am in love with this little teeny arrow necklace in gold/rose gold.  Wouldn’t it be adorable as an everyday peice that you pair with everything? So sweet and charming and so versatile.

Babushka Doll Water Carafe - I am in love with this sweet little water carafe for my bedside table.  It would be such a cute addition to my bedroom with a purpose.

Assorted Dresses/Clothes – I am in love with some of New York and Company’s new winter line.  So many great dresses and tops and their tailoring works so well with my silhouette that its almost a crime to NOT buy them.  Also they have crazy good coupons, like right now in stores all items are buy one get one free, yep FREE! CRAZY! I am in love with this little holiday dress and these super cute tops in atomic red.

Michael Kors Watch – Ok so kind of an extravagant gift but a girl can dream.  There are currently two different watches that I am lusting over, the horn with gold detail one and the Runway watch in brown.  Both are beautiful and would look amazing with almost anything!

What are you wishing for this Christmas?

Gray and Pink…My new obsession

Aug 31

There is something about a great color combination and my favorite right now is gray and pink.  There is something about these muted neutral tones that work together in such a way that makes me question “Why have I not paired this before” The end result comes off as soft, girly yet modern at the same time. These colors remind me of a ballerina in the winter, much like Sephora’s urban ballerina collection from earlier in the year…one of my faves!

From dresses to ballet flats, jewelry, make up palates and bags, this color combination will make you look graceful and edgy with little to no effort.  Try it out.

Gray and Pink

La Redoute Belted Dress – Sears | Sears Canada, $90 – I am in love with this dress, the shape is amazing.  Its utterly simply but special at the same time.  It would look great paired with a pair of blush pink pumps and rose gold jewelry and amazing addition to anyone’s wardrobe.

Marc by marc jacobs earrings, $48 – These earrings are stunning.  Beautiful rose gold color that would look great paired with anything from an evening gown to a tee and jeans.

Michael Kors chronograph watch, 220 – Love my Michael! This gray and rose gold combo is unexpected but works so well.  I tried this baby on the other day and its on my radar!

Naked Eye Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection – Too Faced, $36 – I have this pallate and just like all other too faced products its amazing.  It has great shimmery pink and gray tones with little instructional cards for lots of different looks for the makeup challenged.

essie nail color, mochacino, $8 – I love essie poslishs and muted neutral grayish tones like this one are my fave. It looks great with brown or black and looks great on most skin tones…its a win win!

Givenchy ballerina shoes, $495 – these are quite over my budget but I love the combo of the ballet pink, gold and gray.  I imagine these with a pair of skinny jeans and a easy breezy muted pink blouse or even a cardigan..so lady like.

Coquelicot Giant Rose Gold Velo – Handbags’s Giant – Balenciaga, $1,795 – Once again out of budget for me but Balenciaga’s bags are amazing.  This is the same style that Kourtney Kardashian carries but I love that this one’s hardware is in rose gold, such a great compliment to a great bag.  Check out my splurge vs. steal for this same bag!

Nicholas Kirkwood suede high heels, $795 – beautiful mix of greige suede and pinky peach accents…love these classically shaped heels with a twist

Stella McCartney gradient sunglasses, $225 – The shape feels vintage but the styling is so modern, I would die for these.

What do you all think? What are your faves from this collection? What are some of your favorite color combos?

Excited for Fall

Aug 24

In Louisiana nothing is worse than August! Its hot, humid and down right miserable.  During this terrible month all I can do is dream of the days when the weather is cooler, breezier and enjoyable.  Fall has be dreaming of a few items I cannot wait to add to my wardrobe or pull out from last year.

Fall 2010

Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors - not only are the colors and names of the polishes inspired by the Kardashian/Jenner clan but the collection is pretty amazing.  My two faves are a gray tone and a deep turquoise which are both great for fall

Anything Tweed – This beautiful mustard tweed tunic would be such a great addition to any wardrobe.  Tweed screams cold weather to me and a vibrant color like mustard is great paired with other fall colors like wine, rust, deep turquoise, brown and olive.  I can see this peice of a pair of leggings with boots or with a set of knee high tights and wedges.

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy - When the seasons change, your fragrance needs to change as well.  I normally switch to something spicier like this fabulous little scent by Juicy.  Its a little spicy a little sweet but all in all it reminds me of fall.  Some other great fall scents to check out are Burberry, Chanel and Michael Kors Original scent.

Michael Kors Gunmetal/Tortistse Watch – There is something so utterly bad ass about this watch that I cannot keep my eyes off of it.  A whole new collection of watches dropped recently so check them all out here. I am in love with the brown metal as well as all of the gold tones, perfect for fall.

Tights – I wear lots of oversized sweaters or dresses with tights.  I adore the look of these thigh high tights with wedges, the look is sweet and hipster all at the same time.  Try different colors like gray, dark turquoise or rust to spice up your legs this fall.

Suede Satchell - You cannot deny that suede doesn’t make you think of fall but this beautiful satchell makes me think of back to school.  This version is a pricy option but there are tons of lower priced options.  Try a satchel in a distressed leather or another fall favorite color, pumkin or cognac.  You will feel like heading back to school once you stow your stuff in one of these multipurpose bags.

Oversized Cardigan – Cardigans can be so versatile, comfy and chic all at the same time. Try this cardi over a pair of leggings with flat boots for a low key Saturday of shopping or try it over a pencil skirt and oxford for a day at the office.  Dig in your closet and check out what cardigans you already have and how you can work them over some of your summer pieces to make the transition into the fall, you will be surprised.

Riding Boots- There is nothing like a great pair of boots.  Over a pair of leggings or jeans or paired with a dress or skirt these riding boots have a rough texture about them but also feel very womanly.  They make me wish I knew how to ride a horse.

Wine Lips – I adore the look of a dark lip and natural eye.  Try a long wearing color like Cover Girl Oulast all day wear in Cabernet Satin Remember to keep your eyes and cheeks low key so that you don’t look like a streetwalker :)

Simple Studs – These little Marc Jacobs studs are the perfect color for fall.  They would look great with neturals and event black tones.  I tend to wear simple earrings in the fall for some reason, I save my longer dangly earrings for spring and summer so these would be perfect.

What are you most excited for this fall?

Check out what I was loving last year for fall.  Its fun to look back :)
