Living on the Edge?

Oct 12

I don’t do a lot of prints, I’m a solids kinda girl but recently I have been reaching out of my comfort zone.  Today I reached way out and boy am I glad I did.  I feel like the best looks run a fine line between being fabulous or a complete hot mess and confidence is key.

Today I paired a navy/green super tight jersey pencil skirt with not white or tan, with tomato red.  I know I’ve said it 100 times, I LOVE tomato but I had a feeling that this orangey hue would work well with the green in the skirt and boy was I pleasantly surprised.  I brought the look together with a cognac belt knotted over the top, neutral wedges and gold jewelry.  Easy but a bit eclectic and daring….

Lunch Break Shopping – Fall Finds

Oct 11

Ok so we had our first cool snap in Louisiana this week and I was stuck dressing my kids in clothes from last year that were too short, too tight, you get the picture….So I felt terrible for sending my kids off to school/daycare looking like a pair of hot messes so I grabbed a few things online to make sure that they would look cute in the cool days to come.

For Luna I picked up lots of printed henleys, long sleeve tees, a few hooded tunics and dresses, leggings, sparkly cords and heart patch jeans.  There is a lot of print here but I did buy solids too, just not fun to show off solids.  Old Navy has great stuff that is super cheap that you don’t feel bad about ruining by sending her to play at daycare in the pieces. I am really excited for her to rock her Toms boots that I picked up for her a few weeks ago with these adorable fall looks.

Lunch Break Shopping October Week 2 - Luna

So I realize now it looks like I went a little cray cray for Luna and poor Bailor didn’t get anything. The truth is that Bailor goes to school with uniforms so he only needs clothes for weekends and lets be honest there just aren’t many options for boys.  Another issue is that Bailor is at an in between age.  He is 6, almost 7 so he is out of the kiddy boys clothes but a lot of times the big boy blothes don’t offer XS which is what he needs.  So he got a few waffle print graphic tees in bright colors and a cute gray zip up sweater that will look cute with uniforms or even with a button down underneath for something a bit more dressy.

Lunch Break Shopping October Week 2 - Bailor

For me I grabbed a few new fall-esque dresses, metallic pencil,  jersey pencil skirt, jersey blazer (really excited about this) and a few pairs of wedges and booties.  I am pretty excited about the hounds tooth peplum dress as the black/print number is way out of what I normally buy and I think it could be pretty versatile if styled correctly.

Lunch Break Shopping – March 2012 Week 1

Mar 19

On a very quick lunch break shopping trip I snagged a few great finds that I had to share.

Forever 21 – I stopped in at Forever to make a quick return on a top that I wasn’t a huge fan of and of course found a few things that I had to have.  An oversized top in a beautiful burnt orange color, a few essential tanks in white and greige and this fabulous colorblock oversize tee..perfect for the weekends with some skinnies!

New York and Company – I am a returning fool, b/c I also had some returns at Ny&Co.  I also had a coupon that I needed to use $15 off of $30 awesome!  I snagged this fabulous little shirred top in a beautiful tomato red, have I told you how much I love tomato?

Sephora – It has been a while since I have been in sephora which is strange for me.  I noticed that the eyeliner that I use in the exact same color I use, glitter taupe is being discontinued so I bought all 5 that they had left at a whopping $3 each! I also snagged this sweet little harmonie trio bronzer for super cheap as well!

Misc. – I popped in at Drug Emporium, a local drug store that has the best cosmetics, nail polish selection.  I grabbed some much needed essentials like Tresemme Ultra Fine Mist Hairspray and a new OPI nail polish in Tickle my Francy….its a neutral pinkish/beige…I have tons of neutrals but I couldn’t resist.  I also picked up some hoof lacquer which is a to die for top coat!

Spring Dress – Scary White Legs!

Mar 06

I live in dresses, for work or weekends dresses are my item of choice.  They are comfy, flattering (if you buy the right shape) and easy.  Almost 2 months ago I fell down a few stairs (total clutz I know) and got a horrible, ugly hematoma on my left shin.  The bruising and swelling has been so bad that I have not worn a dress without tights in those two months and it has killed me.

Over the weekend I picked up a super cute little jersey dress by Xilhiliartion, the princess seam skater dress, from Target that was only $15! Spaghetti straps with a fitted bodice, gathered a line skirt and pockets, the best part! So excited to put it on this morning, I completely overlooked the fact that my legs have been completely hidden for most of the winter.  Oh the horror to look down and realize that my legs blend oh so perfectly with the off white color in the dress :( I loved the look so much that I I wore it anyway, white legs and all.

My Christmas Wish List

Dec 06

Christmas is by far one of my favorite times of the year and while I do love to shop for myself I love giving gifts as well. This year during my shopping efforts I have done great about not buying items for myself so instead of buying them I decided to blog them, much cheaper and not so greedy :) Here are a few things I would love to see under my tree this year!

Christmas Wish List

New Camera – I toyed around with the idea of getting a fancier SLR camera to take great photos of my kids but I can’t sacrifice the convenience of a slim, point and shoot camera.  If I can’t carry the camera in my purse photos will never be taken, just being honest so this little Nikon purple camera seems like the way to go, its adorable, my favorite color and it comes with its own rechargable battery which is vital!

Britney or GaGa Tour DVD – I have seen both these ladies on tour recently and both shows were amazing…why not relive that at home on DVD?

Sewing Supplies – I just recently started sewing so I need all sorts of little odds and ends to make my job a little easier, a great pair of scissors, extra needles for my machine, fabric, thread etc.

Nail Polish and Nail Polish Accessories – I am in love with the stick on nail decals and fun nail polish colors.  I own way to many colors but I cannot get enough. I love OPI, Essie and I am grooving on the new Kardashian Kollection at Wal Mart.  Currently I am lusitng over Khole had a Lam-Lam and Sealed with a Kris and Rainbow in the S-Kylie, as well as Essie’s “Cocktail Bling” “Sole Mate” “Mink Muffs” “Glamour Purse” don’t forget Sally Hansen’s leopard and frock star nail polish strips

Marc Jacobs Daisy – This is my self proclaimed signature scent.  It is so versatile and I think that it easily transitions through the seasons.  I am currently out of the large bottle so obviously I need a refill but I would also love a roller ball version to travel with or keep at work or in my purse

Delicate Rose Gold Ring – I have been in love with rose gold since purchasing my Michael Kors Rose Gold rose gold watch last year.  It compliments my skin and hair color and I get so many comments on it so I want a rose gold ring and I am loving the look of this little bow ring or delicate hammered band.

Arrow Necklace – I am in love with this little teeny arrow necklace in gold/rose gold.  Wouldn’t it be adorable as an everyday peice that you pair with everything? So sweet and charming and so versatile.

Babushka Doll Water Carafe - I am in love with this sweet little water carafe for my bedside table.  It would be such a cute addition to my bedroom with a purpose.

Assorted Dresses/Clothes – I am in love with some of New York and Company’s new winter line.  So many great dresses and tops and their tailoring works so well with my silhouette that its almost a crime to NOT buy them.  Also they have crazy good coupons, like right now in stores all items are buy one get one free, yep FREE! CRAZY! I am in love with this little holiday dress and these super cute tops in atomic red.

Michael Kors Watch – Ok so kind of an extravagant gift but a girl can dream.  There are currently two different watches that I am lusting over, the horn with gold detail one and the Runway watch in brown.  Both are beautiful and would look amazing with almost anything!

What are you wishing for this Christmas?
