Fall Wishlist

Sep 05

With no birthday or gifting holiday coming soon I often find myself creating these mental wishlists of items that I am obsessed with.  Some are cray expensive and will never be obtained and others are small little treasures that I keep on my radar when I feel I need a little pick me up or reward. I thought I would share these with you all.

Obsessed List

Gold Bar Necklace – I love delicate gold jewelry and during a week of laying on the couch while I was sick, I caught a Law and Order SVU marathon.  I have always loved this show but I became focused on Olivia Benson’s necklace and with each episode I couldn’t take my eyes off of it.  This cute little god bar necklace from Etsy can be personalized with anything you want to make it part of you and your everyday look.  Not sure what I would engrave mine with….any suggestions?

Seychelles Women’s Scoundrel BootieThese little booties are beyond fabulous.  The super versatile cognac color, the open side and the gold detail are just a few things that make me want to run out and snag these bad boys.  How cute would these be with leggings, skinnies, dresses, hell I may even wear them with PJs!

Leather Leggings – I love leather leggings but the idea of a full leather or faux leather legging is a bit frightening.  The angular detailing on these leggings is quite amazing and would be a fabulous addition to any fall wardrobe.

Gold Rimmed Stemware – I adore the vintage feel of these stemless bar glasses from West Elm. They make me feel like I should be smoking the day away (yuck) while coming up with amazing ad campaigns in a 1960s Mad Men office.  The gold detail is so elegant and classic while the stemless shape makes them hopelessly modern….LOVE!

Gold Stationary - I adore stationary.  I literally have drawers of cards, paper etc.  The simple styling of this set paired with the cool feel of the gold printing makes it super special and a must have for my collection.

Weekend Shopping

Aug 19

Nothing beats a beautiful day with nothing to do but shop.  This past weekend’s weather was to die for and I took full advantage by doing a little shopping while preparing for a local charity event.  I needed a few things to finish off my look and hit a few local (and not so local) stores for some goodies.

Weekend Shopping

Forever 21 – popped in to grab a oversized gold bracelet to complete my look.  I snagged this multi level chain bracelet for a whopping $8.80 and these adorable chevron/arrow bangles that will be a welcome addition to my huge bracelet collection.  This little aztec print burn out tee was too cute to pass up and for only $13 how could I resist?

Vanessa V - One of my favorite places to shop in Lafayette, I grabbed this super cute simple yet different set of gold knotted bangle bracelets.  I have tons of bangles but there was something special about these that makes them my new favorites and for only $12 you can’t go wrong!

Walgreens – Nothing completes a glamourous look like big lashes and a red lip.  I adore falsies and will put it up against any pricey mascara any day! Maybeline just released a new version of Falsies with two sides and two types of brushes for upper and lower lashes and I must say that I am in love! I also grabbed a new red lipstick by Rimmel, cheap, great tomato red color and long lasting.

Vertage Clothing - This little boutique is a great place for weekend shopping, located on Main St. in River Ranch, its directly across from my Barre studio and super convenient.  I have been wanting to try out midi rings (see my Fall Must Haves) and I snagged a cute set of simple gold midi rings for only $16.  They were a great addition to my look for the charity event and I can see myself wearing them on a day to day basis with all of my other gold accessories.

What do you think of my finds? Did you do any weekend shopping?

Easy Date Night Look

Jul 31

Dating is something very new to me and finding the perfect look can be a challenge.  I am a dress girl at heart, I feel prettiest and most like myself when I am in a dress, so I am always on the lookout for dresses that are flattering and simple.

I don’t do a whole lot of prints so I tend to choose solid pieces that have a little something special about them or I style them with interesting accessories to liven them up.  During a recent lunch break shopping trip to a local boutique (Vanessa V) I went a little cray, literally cray.  There was a huge summer sale making most of this store’s amazing items 1/2 price.  I snagged tons of pieces (like 10 pieces) that are simple yet special.

The dress I chose to wear on a little date last night is a Everly royalish blue chiffon dress.  It is super simple in front with a soft V neck and elastic at the waist and a slightly flared skirt making it very flattering.  The back is what makes the dress really special, there is a small keyhole with a dainty bow right on top of the hole at the top of the neck.  This simple detail makes this otherwise ordinary dress, extraordinary. The dress is no longer available online so the dress in the photo is similar in style/shape and fabric.

I paired the dress with a gold, armor esque collar necklace, also from Vanessa V to toughen up the look a bit.  To show off the bow detail in back I put my hair in a messy top knot and finished the look with a simple pair of straw wedges, also from Vanessa V ( I must have a little obsession).

Date Night

The look was a hit, I felt confident, sexy and comfortable and my very cute date even commented on the color of the dress bringing out my eyes :)

What’s not to like about an easy go to dress that can be styled 100 ways and still look and feel great?

Sweaters, Boots…It must be fall?

Oct 16

The temperatures are getting a bit cooler and that means changing up staple pieces in your wardrobe for fall.

Today I am wearing a jersey pencil skirt in tan/black large stripes, one of my new favorite pieces by the way! So comfortable and flattering, hugs all the right things and is extremely easy to style.  I topped by skirt off with an oversized 3/4 black sweater with a fun back detail, its sheer! If I wouldn’t be at work it would be fun to wear only a black bra under and show that off from the back but hey girls gotta be office appropriate.  Because my summer tan is long gone, I covered some of the whiteness with a new pair of short velvetty black platform wedge booties that I got last week during lunch break shopping.

I am accessorized with gold bangles, Michael Kors watch (surprise, surprise) and a long gold leaf necklace from Forever 21.  I did a bronze smokey eye, nude lip and messy waves to top off this fall look.  I love how easy and pulled together this combo is.  This outfit could easily go from day to night and its fun with unexpected details like the sheer back and tough shoes.

Stripes and Sheer!

Lunch Break Shopping – Fall Finds

Oct 11

Ok so we had our first cool snap in Louisiana this week and I was stuck dressing my kids in clothes from last year that were too short, too tight, you get the picture….So I felt terrible for sending my kids off to school/daycare looking like a pair of hot messes so I grabbed a few things online to make sure that they would look cute in the cool days to come.

For Luna I picked up lots of printed henleys, long sleeve tees, a few hooded tunics and dresses, leggings, sparkly cords and heart patch jeans.  There is a lot of print here but I did buy solids too, just not fun to show off solids.  Old Navy has great stuff that is super cheap that you don’t feel bad about ruining by sending her to play at daycare in the pieces. I am really excited for her to rock her Toms boots that I picked up for her a few weeks ago with these adorable fall looks.

Lunch Break Shopping October Week 2 - Luna

So I realize now it looks like I went a little cray cray for Luna and poor Bailor didn’t get anything. The truth is that Bailor goes to school with uniforms so he only needs clothes for weekends and lets be honest there just aren’t many options for boys.  Another issue is that Bailor is at an in between age.  He is 6, almost 7 so he is out of the kiddy boys clothes but a lot of times the big boy blothes don’t offer XS which is what he needs.  So he got a few waffle print graphic tees in bright colors and a cute gray zip up sweater that will look cute with uniforms or even with a button down underneath for something a bit more dressy.

Lunch Break Shopping October Week 2 - Bailor

For me I grabbed a few new fall-esque dresses, metallic pencil,  jersey pencil skirt, jersey blazer (really excited about this) and a few pairs of wedges and booties.  I am pretty excited about the hounds tooth peplum dress as the black/print number is way out of what I normally buy and I think it could be pretty versatile if styled correctly.
