It is no secret that I love fashion. It has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember
and this little blog has been a way for me to document and share my style successes and failures.
To have people view and read my blog is like a dream come true but to have my personal style noticed and praised is another thing. I got the call a few weeks ago from the Independant, a local magazine sharing events, local interest stories and fashion articles saying that I would be one of the 6 honorees at this year’s Style Awards. I was so excited to be included in this great event and a little shocked to be of the few chosen for this great honor.
To give the magazine something to say about me for readers who are interested in learning about my style, I posed with the other winners for photos and completed an interview for use on the night of the event.
With great questions like “Who or What are your style inspirations?” “What are your best tips for shopping and dressing well?” the interview was super fun to share things in person that I share here everyday. In a nutshell I dress for my body with attention to shapes and colors that flatter my figure and aesthetic.
I prefer to look polished and bold in unexpected color combos, trendy accessories and slightly vintage shapes. I adore nude
shoes and hate red lips, only because I am jealous that I cannot rock this look. (petty I know but hey what can I say…I’m red with envy)
I dressed local and wore a simple 3/4 sleeve sheath dress from Bevo’s of Lafayette in a bold royal blue with orange print fabric. The simple dress was accented by a column of shiny gold buttons down the back adding something special to a simple shape. Nude wedges from Vertigo gold chain link necklace and bangles and my Michael Kors watch and vintage ring finish up this simple look that definitely communicates my personal style.
While I wish I looked thinner or that my hair was more strategically placed in the photos, I love the way I was portrayed in this article. I feel completely represented and I am so honored and humbled to be part of this great event promoting a variety of people with different personal style.
Check out the magazine here and don’t forget to mark your calendars for the event on September 19th.
